It could be necessary for you to take the BioMedical Admissions Test (BMAT) if you wish to study medicine. Participants taking this subject-specific admission exam are candidates for various medicine programs at particular universities requiring the BMAT.
Follow these 5 simple tips to score a higher band grade on your BMAT:
1. Learn to prioritize
Examine a few questions from each section to determine the type of thinking needed. Make sure you are well aware of what each component comprises before you start the exam. You’ll probably find that Section 1 is very similar to the UCAT, Section 2 is the one you’ll be familiar with and hence the easiest to review for, and Section 3 may be more reliant on communication and extensive reading.
2. Solve past papers
The BMAT’s advantage over the UCAT in terms of preparation is one of its best features. Take advantage of the free access to the past papers archived on the BMAT website. They will surely help you learn about your strengths and weaknesses and become more accustomed to the format of the test.
3. Treat section 1 as if it were the UCAT
Verbal Reasoning and the UCAT will be familiar to those of you who have taken the test, and you will benefit from adopting a similar but more circumspect approach. Read the question and weigh your options. Look for tiny wordplay that can completely change the meaning of some things. Avoid assuming anything or inferring anything from the section that isn’t mentioned, and you’ll do well.
4. Stay confident for section 2
Despite Section 2’s designation as GCSE level Science, it ends up being much higher than GCSE level due to the numerous requirements. Check the official instructions on the BMAT website to make sure you have all the information you need. Use this manual as a checklist to go over each of the BMAT’s subject areas.
5. Ensure clarity in section 3
The BMAT prefers ideas that are succinct, persuasive, and well-presented. Not only will your writing style affect your grade, but also the arguments you present. Try to refrain from coming up with weak arguments. The easiest way to study various concepts and consider opposing viewpoints is to look at the previous essay titles and discuss them with someone. To receive one of the higher bands, keep in mind to include all relevant information and to develop a strong conclusion.
