With courses being held online and no clear indication that things would return to normal anytime soon, CBSE has decided to step in and make a few modifications to help students and teachers alike.
CBSE has resolved to square the odds by taking the required measures and establishing arrangements for pupils to learn unambiguously after careful assessment of the availability of various gadgets, their sustainability, capacity, and other inhibitions and shortfalls that can lead to discrepancies.
What are by far the most significant changes made by the CBSE?
According to the most recent sources, the full term for classes 10 and 12 has been split into two separate segments, or mini terms, to facilitate study and provide some room to maneuver. Furthermore, each term’s syllabus will be reduced by half, making the course easier and less difficult for the students. The board examination syllabus will be simplified, and the authenticity and reliability of internal evaluations (projects and practical exams) will be improved.
In terms of the curriculum, CBSE has decided that year-end tests, projects, and practical examinations will be included in the internal evaluation for classes 11 to 12. Classes 9 to 10 will follow the same pattern, with the addition of three periodic assessments, listening and speaking activities, a portfolio, and student enrichment. Classroom learning and teaching will be postponed until the pandemic situation improves.
The following are some key details about the CBSE Board exam special evaluation scheme for 2022:
- The academic year 2021-22 will be split into two terms, with each term having a 50% syllabus.
- Internal evaluations and project work are being worked on to improve their credibility and validity.
- For the 2022 board exams, the CBSE will rationalise the syllabus for grades 10 and 12.
- The first term exams will be held in November-December, followed by the second term exams in March-April.
CBSE Term-I Board Exam 2022
The CBSE board will administer the Term I examinations during November and December 2021, at the end of the first term. For schools in India and overseas, the exams would be held across a four-to-eight-week window. Later, on the board’s official website, cbse.gov.in, the detailed schedule for the Term-I test will be revealed. The exam will be overseen by External Center Superintendents and Observers, who have been nominated by the Board. The marks earned by the students will be factored into the candidate’s final overall score.
Exam Format:
The exam will be conducted in an offline mode i.e., at the centre.
The following Multiple-choice objective type (MCQ) questions appear in the paper:
- Case-based MCQs
- Assertion-reasoning type
Duration of the exam:
The exam will be for a total of 90 minutes duration.
CBSE Term-II Board Exam 2022
The Board would conduct the Term II or Yearend Examination after the second term ended. These exams are set to take place in March-April 2022 at the board-designated locations. The marks earned by the students would be utilised to calculate the final score. The exam pattern for Term II is different from that of Term 1.
Duration of the exam:
The paper will be of 2 hours duration. However, if the situation is not conducive to normal descriptive examination, then the board will conduct a 90-minute MCQ-based exam (same as the Term I exam).
Type of questions:
The exam will have different types of question formats like case-based/situation-based, open-ended- short answer/ long answer type.
In what conditions would CBSE conduct an Assessment/Examination?
CBSE will conduct the assessment/examination for the board test 2022 in the following situations, as explained below.
Case 1:
If the pandemic situation improves and students are permitted to take tests at schools or centres.
>> In this instance, the board will hold Term I and Term II examinations at the board’s designated schools or examination centres. Furthermore, the theory marks will be distributed evenly across the two tests.
>> In this instance, the board will hold Term I and Term II examinations at the board’s designated schools or examination centres. Furthermore, the theory marks will be distributed evenly across the two tests.
Case 2:
Schools are forced to close during November-December 2021 due to the COVID-19 issue, but Term II exams are held at schools or centres.
>> In this instance, students would take their Term I exams online/offline from home. However, the weighting of the Term I exam in the final score will be reduced, and more weight will be given to the Term II exams in the result declaration.
Case 3:
Schools are forced to close between March and April 2022 due to the COVID-19 issue, but Term I exams are held at schools or centres.
>> If this occurs, the board will calculate the grade based on the student’s performance on the Term I examination and internal assessments. The weighting of marks assigned to the Term I exams will be used to calculate the applicants’ year-end results.
Case 4:
In the session 2021-22, the applicants will take Term I and II exams from home.
>> The CBSE Board exam 20222 results will be calculated based on the Internal Assessment/Practical/Project Work and Theory marks of Term-I and II exams, which will be taken by the applicant from home in Class X/XII subject.
Annually, the majority of students choose to study in countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada. This tendency, however, will have an impact on students who plan to study for their undergraduate degrees in another country.
For the U.S. universities, early actions and early applications (early November) and the deadline will be in January. Students need to juggle board exams instead of the rest they need to get prior to the board exams based on this pattern.
If students want to apply to U.S. colleges, they must begin applying in January-February with the expected scores.
The deadline for submitting applications in either the United Kingdom or Canada is January 15th, so applicants should complete their essays and other criteria by that day.
As a result, students should begin their preparations as early as March or April. They must obtain further information as well as the items that must be maintained in reserve.
