Can I get a scholarship to an Ivy League school?
Getting into an Ivy League college is every student’s dream. These colleges are located on the east coast of the United States, and they offer the finest education across the globe.
While the acceptance rates of Ivy League universities in the US are already about 3 to 7%, it is even more challenging and financially taxing for international students. There is limited but generous financial aid that you can receive in Ivy League schools as an international student. Here are a few pointers:
1. No athletic scholarships:
According to Ivy League rules, student-athletes are not eligible for athletic scholarships. Instead, student-athletes can benefit from the same options for need-based financial aid as other students.
2. No merit based scholarships:
Prospective students are not given merit, skill, or athletic scholarships by the Ivy League group as a whole. If you get into one of these colleges, you are amongst the top 0.5% of the students globally.
3. Generous need based scholarships:
The ability to pay your tuition fees is not taken into account during the process of need blind admissions.
This need-based financial help consists of work study, federal student loans, and grants that don’t require repayment. Some Ivy League colleges, such as Harvard and Princeton, don’t burden students with student loans, allowing you to graduate debt-free.
You must also submit the FAFSA and, for some universities, the CSS profile in order to be eligible for any need-based financial aid.
Use the individual college’s aid and fees calculator according to your needs.
