Undergraduate education:
USA
Legal studies courses at an undergraduate level are not a prerequisite for law schools in the US. However, law school admissions committees place a lot of importance on applicants’ GPAs and LSAT scores. Because of this, students who plan to major in law usually aim to pick courses where they can maintain the highest GPAs.
UK
After completing three years of undergraduate study, a prospective lawyer in the UK acquires an LLB (Bachelor of Laws). Those who choose not to major in law have the option of completing the GDL (Graduate Diploma in Law), which essentially condenses three years’ worth of knowledge from an LLB into one year.
Postgraduate education:
USA
Students take the LSAT if they are planning to study law in the US at postgraduate level. Instead of testing legal knowledge, the LSAT tests a student’s capacity for textual comprehension, logical reasoning, and pattern recognition. Those who are accepted can pursue three years of education in law.
UK
After receiving their LLB, UK students pursue either a BPTC (Bar Professional Training Course) or an LPC (Legal Practice Course) degree. The course duration is one year.

In the United States, there is no distinction between courses according to the type of law that you are willing to practice.
UK
In the UK, students who want to become barristers should enrol in BPTCs. LPCs are for those who aspire to practise law as solicitors, or desk-bound attorneys who advise clients and retain barristers when they need further support in court.
