You might have to take the BioMedical Admissions Test(BMAT) if you wish to study medicine. Candidates in this subject-specific admission exam are students of various medical programs at different universities.

Sections 1 and 2:
Each question in Sections 1 and 2 is worth one mark. The total raw scores for each section are converted to the BMAT scale, which runs from 1 (poor) to 9 (high) (high). The nearest tenth of a decimal place is used to record scores. The typical BMAT score for applicants is roughly 5.0. The average score for the top candidates will be around 6.0, while a select few outstanding people will obtain a score above 7.0.
Section 3:
The subject matter and English writing ability of a student are graded in Section 3 essays. Each essay receives two grades. The average of the two essay marks is given to students. The essays are noted a third time, and the final grade awarded is double-checked by a senior member of the Cambridge Assessment team, if there is a major discrepancy in the grades.
Who should take the BMAT?
There is a list of 10 medical schools in the UK that require the BMAT in addition to the UCAT exam. The other universities just require a UCAT test. If you are willing to apply to universities that require the BMAT and the UCAT both, you may have to take the BMAT.
The BMAT is challenging to pass since it evaluates a wide range of skills. Moreover, you can’t use a dictionary or calculator, and there is a lot of time pressure. Many students who are interested in science are particularly anxious about the essay-writing aspect. You can only take the BMAT once a year, so make sure you prepare well.
